Picinisco still an Orange Flag until 2026

Picinisco stars at BIT in Milan: still an Orange Flag until 2026

Mayor Scappaticci: “this extraordinary recognition is our seal of quality in tourism, environment, hospitality, catering and quality of life that fills us with pride”

The municipality of Picinisco also confirms for the three-year period 2024-26 the recognition of “Orange Flag” issued by the authoritative tourism and cultural promotion body Touring Club Italiano.
Picinisco took centre stage during the International Tourism Exchange (BIT) in Milan, where mayor Marco Scappaticci was honoured by TCI president Franco Iseppi, in the presence of Tourism Minister Daniela Garnero Santanchè.

A total of 281 orange flags were awarded for the three-year period 2024-26, and among them was Picinisco, which successfully passed the stringent TCI protocol checks required to retain the title of “Orange flag”.

“The certified municipalities, which were already distinguished by high quality standards, have further improved their hospitality, demonstrating,” writes the TCI, "a growing commitment to the protection and enhancement of their historical, cultural, landscape and environmental heritage.

To understand the extraordinary importance of the recognition obtained by the municipality of Picinisco in the three-year period 2021-23 and confirmed for 2024-26, it suffices to point out that only 281 municipalities (8% of those nominated, more than 3500) were awarded the Orange Flag.

«The recognition of the Orange Flag in Picinisco represents a seal of quality that encourages and stimulates residents to stay and others to choose us not only as a tourist destination but also
as an ideal possible place to stay.

This title - comments Mayor Marco Scappaticci - fills us with pride because it is an extraordinary calling card that recognises the value of our small town's historical, cultural and environmental heritage, and its ability to offer visitors a quality welcome that respects the environment and sustainability.
It was the right reward for the territory and the teamwork that the municipal administration was able to create with local associations, operators and agri-food companies. Picinisco is a small mountain community that can only keep up with the times by exalting our historical and social roots, cultural and environmental values, the traditional food and wine products of our pastoral culture, the uncontaminated habitat with its biodiversity and healthiness; obviously amalgamated with our recognised spirit of welcome and hospitality.
The confirmation of this prestigious title for another three years has been achieved thanks to the municipal administration, associations and citizens who have worked hard during this three-year period to increase the enhancement and promotion of sustainable and quality tourism
raising the standards of hospitality and liveability.

The TCI's “Orange Flag”, but also the title of ONAF “Cheese City”, is a guarantee of quality for tourists and visitors, but above all an incentive to continue along this path, both for the municipal administration and for the operators of our qualified agro-pastoral, hospitality and catering economic sector.
