Picinisco maintains “Orange Flag” status until 2026

Picinisco Takes Center Stage at BIT in Milan: Still Orange Flagged until 2026

Mayor Scappaticci: “This extraordinary recognition is our hallmark of quality in the tourism, environmental, hospitality, catering, and quality of life sectors, which fills us with pride.”

The municipality of Picinisco also confirms the “Orange Flag” recognition for the 2024-26 triennium issued by the authoritative tourist and cultural promotion organization Touring Club Italiano.

Picinisco was in the spotlight during the International Tourism Exchange (BIT) in Milan where Mayor Marco Scappaticci was awarded by TCI President Franco Iseppi, in the presence of Tourism Minister Daniela Garnero Santanchè.

There were 281 orange flags assigned for the 2024-26 triennium, and among these was Picinisco, which successfully passed the stringent checks prescribed by the TCI protocol necessary to retain the title of “Orange Flag.”

“The certified municipalities, which already stood out for high-quality standards, have further improved their hospitality, demonstrating – writes the TCI – a growing commitment to the protection and enhancement of their historical-cultural, landscape, and environmental heritage.”

To understand the extraordinary importance of the recognition obtained by the Municipality of Picinisco in the 2021-23 triennium and confirmed for 2024-26, it suffices to highlight that only 281 municipalities (8% of those candidates, over 3500) obtained the Orange Flag.

Picinisco Takes Center Stage at BIT Milan Picinisco Orange Flag Picinisco Orange Flag “The recognition of the Orange Flag to Picinisco represents a quality label that encourages and stimulates residents to stay and others to choose us not only as a tourist destination but also as an ideal possible place of residence.

This title – comments Mayor Marco Scappaticci – fills us with pride because it is an extraordinary business card that recognizes the value of our small village’s historical, cultural, and environmental heritage, and the ability to offer visitors quality hospitality, respecting the environment and sustainability. It was the right reward for the territory and the teamwork that the Municipal Administration has been able to create with local associations, operators, and agri-food companies. Picinisco is a small mountain community that can keep pace with the times only by enhancing our historical-social roots, cultural and environmental values, traditional gastronomic products of our pastoral culture, the pristine habitat with its biodiversity and healthiness; obviously blended with our recognized spirit of hospitality and warmth. The confirmation of this prestigious title for another three years was achieved thanks to the Municipal Administration, associations, and citizens who, in this triennium, have committed themselves to enhancing the valorization and promotion of sustainable and high-quality tourism by raising the standards of hospitality and livability.

The “Orange Flag” of the TCI, but also the title of “City of Cheese” awarded by ONAF, is a guarantee of quality for tourists and visitors, but above all, an incentive to continue on this path both for the municipal administration and for the operators of our qualified economic sector of agro-pastoralism, hospitality, and catering.”
