Church of the Holy Trinity at Peschio

It is one of the oldest churches in Alvito, probably dating back to the 12th century, coeval with the birth of the Peschio nucleus, halfway between the castle and the village.

Leaning against the walls, it has a square in front of it from which the old road to the castle started. With the opening of the carriageway, it remained peripheral to the built-up area.

It was the seat of the Congregation of the Holy Trinity until 1800.

The current layout is 19th century: a rectangular hall with a barrel-vaulted ceiling and side chapels. On the entrance gallery is an ancient organ.

The façade, which incorporated the bell tower, is essentially plain; the only plastic element is the portal framed by fluted pilasters surmounted by a tympanum.
