The Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise National Park It is celebrating its first century. On 11 January 1923, the King of Italy’s hunting reserve became one of the most beautiful places in our country.
In fact, although the park was established on a private initiative on 9 September 1922, its official establishment was confirmed on 11 January 1923 by Royal Decree-Law No. 257.

Breathtaking landscapes, extraordinary animals and vast beech forests stretch across the mountain slopes.
It has the richest fauna in Western Europe:
- 67 species of mammals
- 230 birds
- 14 reptiles
- 12 amphibians
- 15 Pisces
- 4,764 species of insects
The park’s emblem is the Marsican brown bear 🐻, of which there are around fifty, according to the latest surveys.
