Church of Santa Felicita

La Church of Santa Felicita, which rises at the entrance to the village, outside the castle walls, recalls the thousand-year-old cult of Saint Felicita and the Seven Brothers Saints, whose devotion in the whole area surrounding Settefrati (Valle di Canneto) was very strong and, it would seem, linked to the pagan devotion of the goddess Mephitis, in turn centred on the cult of water and fertility.

This hypothesis is reinforced if one considers that another chapel, dedicated to St. Felicita, is present in the area, in the nearby hamlet of Pietrafitta, and here too the emphasis is placed on the energy-giving and life-giving properties of spring waters. The earliest historical information on this church dates back to May 1704, in a document from which the original and exact title of the building can also be deduced: “Ecc. Parr. S. Felicita et Septem Fraturum”.
